September 2009 saw the most posts in a month on my blog, but this month (October), I’ve really neglected it… Actually, I’ve thought about it every day, but I’ve been too busy with work that I haven’t been able to find the time…

In the meantime, (until I find more time), for those of you that keep coming back to my blog waiting in vain for my next blog post, or if you’re ever bored and looking for something to read, you can always search my blog using the search bar at the top. You never know, you might find something interesting from long ago… And feel free to navigate through the various links on the archives page too. Have a look…

So, I haven’t forgotten about my blog ;-) I’ll be sure to post more often as soon as I get the time. Thanks for checking back, and thanks for your patience too!

More soon…

I recently changed the sidebar on my blog and removed the two options to “Share on Facebook” and to “Share on Twitter”. I’ve replaced them with a single link that allows you to share the post on Facebook, Twitter, send it to someone by email, and tons of other options too… Try it out!

In related news, I’ve been meaning to post to my blog a lot more – I do have a lot to blog about, but I’ve been too busy with other things of late… More posts will come soon!

I called Rogers today (*611) and waited on hold for about 20 minutes. I was trying to change Michelle’s My5 numbers. After 20 minutes on hold, I got to speak to a customer from Whitby, Ontario. Somehow the lines got crossed, so we both had a short conversation and then had to call back Rogers and wait on hold again…

How does that happen? Weird.

Industry Minister Jim Prentice sent letters to the CEOs of Telus & Bell asking them to meet him in Ottawa before Aug. 8 to explain their decision to charge for incoming text messages.

Bell, Telus must explain charges

OTTAWA — Industry Minister Jim Prentice is taking Bell Mobility and Telus Mobility to task for their plans to charge their wireless customers for each incoming text message to the cellphones unless they subscribe to a product bundle.

Incoming text messages have been free.

Prentice says he believes the decision to begin charging for in-coming text messages is ill-thought out and will harm consumers.

The industry minister has sent letters to the chief executive officers of both companies asking them to meet him in Ottawa before Aug. 8 to explain their decision.

“While I have no desire to interfere with the day-to-day business decisions of two private companies, I do have a duty as Minister of Industry to protect the interests of the consuming public when necessary,” the letter states. “I believe this was a poorly thought-out decision.”

BCE Inc.’s Bell Mobility has announced its customers will start paying the new charge on Aug. 8, while customers of Telus will not see the new charge until Aug. 24.

Prentice issued a statement saying the decision to begin charging for incoming text messages has raised serious concerns with consumers, particularly with regard to unwanted messages received by their cellphones.

Today, CIRA announced that the registrant information normally listed when doing a WHOIS search will no longer be displayed as of June 10, 2008 [...]

Today the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), who governs the registration of .ca domain names, announced that effective June 10, 2008, all non-corporate domain registrations will have their personal information protected by default.

The dot-ca WHOIS service is a public search tool that allows users to look up information about the holders of dot-ca domain names. A WHOIS search returns such information as name, address, phone and fax numbers and email address. After consulting with the public, CIRA adopted a new WHOIS policy that no longer displays this information, to provide greater privacy for our Registrants.

As an individual Registrant, your private information will be protected by default – no action is required to receive this additional privacy feature.

This means that the registrant’s contact information normally listed when doing a WHOIS search on a domain will no longer be displayed. Instead, they have created a new “Message Delivery Form” to send a message to the domain name holder…

More information is available on CIRA’s website.
