Jazz Bistro

by

I haven’t been all that active on Twitter recently, but it was the first thing I checked when I got out of bed. After having a quick breakfast, (two slices of toast with my delicious homemade strawberry jam and a glass of milk), I moved into my office/studio to start working on a salsa transcription for a client. I barely got Finale open when I saw this tweet from @JazzBistroTO:

Jazz Bistro Stage

Both Michelle and I were one of the first five to retweet, so we got invited to Jazz Bistro to try out their new lunch menu. What a great way to promote that they’re now open for lunch!

Michelle ordered their BLT ($16) which is made with peameal bacon and dijon mustard, and I ordered the Coq au Vin ($24) at the recommendation of our waitress. Here are some photos:

The free lunch was just that – free. There were no strings attached, no hidden stipulations, nor any restrictions on what I could order. They didn’t ask me to write up an article or review either, but I thought I’d share the photos and help promote their new lunch menu anyways.

At the same time, however, this review is notably a lot more neutral than my other food reviews. For one, after writing up such a negative review of Relish Bar & Grill, I don’t like to review restaurants with live music anymore since it’s an obvious conflict of interest as a music performer. And second, given that the lunch was free, any praise would appear biased, no? What can I say, integrity is important to me.
