This past weekend, Michelle and I finally went to St. Lawrence Market for our first time ever and we ran into an old friend/roommate there, Daniel Huezo.
I’ve played a lot of gigs with Daniel Huezo in the past (mostly back in 1998 ) and we’ve also lived together twice (for almost a year in 1999 and then for a couple months in 2005). Wow, how time flies!
Anyways, Here’s a funny story – after walking around St. Lawrence Market for a while, Michelle and I got really tired so we sat down on these tall stools close to the stairs going down. After five minutes or so, I say to Michelle "Hey, look who’s there!" and direct her attention to none other than celebrity chef, David Adjey from FoodNetwork. He was walking down the stairs and I guess he heard me, so he looks up and says "Hey, how’s it going bud?" That was the highlight of my day…
it’s funny how I’ve been around a lot of really famous musicians in the past, but I never get "star-struck" – they’re just another person to me. But get a celebrity chef in front of me and that’s a whole other story. Go figure… I convinced Michelle that we should go downstairs and ask him if he wouldn’t mind taking a photo with me. When we made it to the bottom of the stairs he was nowhere to be found. After maybe ten seconds of looking for him, I thought this is weird, why am I stalking him? so we stopped looking for him and went back upstairs. I hadn’t shaved in a while so it wouldn’t have been a great photo anyways. Still, at least he said hello to me! What a nice guy…
