Schwartz’s Montreal Hebrew Delicatessen

I was in Montreal for a recording session this weekend and went to Schwartz’s Deli late on Friday night.

I ordered a pickle, French fries, a fatty Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich and a black cherry soda. Here are some photos:

After hearing a lot of hype about how great Schwartz’s is, my first impression was not a very good one – I was surprised at how dirty and run down the place was. Sure, they get a lot of traffic and it’s hard to keep floors clean in the winter, plus they’ve been open for more than eighty years and have a long history, I get it. But still, I’ve walked out of Chinese restaurants for not being clean, and Schwartz’s was way past my threshold of what I consider acceptable…

Nevertheless, the Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich (fatty) was really good and the service was pleasant and efficient.
