What happened to the other 3%?
by Daniel Menjívar • #life #math #societyBack when I was in junior high school, when I’d bring my report card home with a 97% in math, rather than "congratulations son"
or any sort of affirmation that I was doing a good job, my dad would ask me, "what happened to the other three percent?"
It was no wonder then, that by the time I was in high school, I just stopped bringing my report cards home altogether. My grades were good so the school didn’t care, and my parents never asked to see them either.
I came across this video on YouTube of a very proud father losing his mind after his kid passes math:

The father’s reaction seemed a little over-the-top to me at first, (why isn’t he asking him what happened to the other three percent?), but then when I scrolled down and read the comments I found out that the kid is dyslexic and even though his dad relentlessly helped him study, he, nor his dad thought he would pass math. What a great father!
